The Portal

The Portal at portal.themotherhen.com is your web-based view of every Mother Hen device on your account. It shows live state, lets you manage who gets alerts, and is where you go for account and subscription details.

Open portal.themotherhen.com in a browser and sign in with Google. The first time, you will be prompted to grant the Portal access to your email address — that is the only Google information we read.

You can also reach the Portal directly by scanning the QR code on your Quick-Start card. The QR-code path pre-identifies your Controller, which is useful the very first time you set up an account and also after the fact as a return-login shortcut.

After login, the Portal opens to a list of your Controllers. Each Controller card shows:

  • The Controller’s online/offline status at a glance.
  • The Coop Climate Sensors paired to it, each with its current contact state (open or closed), temperature, and humidity.
  • The Egg or Eggs paired to it, with their current state (green, blue, amber, red, or offline).

If you have more than one coop, each Controller is its own card.

Tap or click a sensor to see its details. You will see:

  • Current readings — temperature, humidity, contact state.
  • Last seen — the timestamp of the most recent report from this sensor.
  • Recent history — a short list of recent state changes for that device.

The readings update in near-real-time as the Controller publishes new state. Expect the Portal to refresh within seconds of an event at the coop.

In your account settings, you can see and remove phone numbers currently subscribed to SMS alerts. Adding new recipients is currently handled by support — email us with the number you want added and we will set it up.

Your account page shows:

  • Your subscription status and renewal date.
  • The customer number printed on your subscription welcome card.
  • The Google email associated with your account.

The renewal price for the cellular subscription is $99 per year. The first year is included with the Base Kit.

The Portal is in active development for our first customer launch and features ship regularly. If anything on the Portal looks different from this page, the Portal has been updated since we last revised these docs. Contact support and we will walk you through whatever you are looking at.
